Schnitzler syndrome

Further questions on Schnitzler syndrome

Where should I turn if I think I suffer from Schnitzler syndrome?

The only answer is: go to your physician and ask him/her. No diagnosis can be made through internet or email.

Schnitzler syndrome is very rare, and there are much more common causes of recurrent fevers and skin lesions. So the chances of you having this disease are very small. But some people do suffer from it. Your doctor should be able to answer your questions and help you. Because it is such a rare disease, he/she may very likely not be familiar with it. However, the medical literature contains enough clear references for his/her information.

Where does the name Schnitzler syndrome come from?

In 1972, a French doctor published an article about a patient with chronic urticaria, periodic fever and a gammopathy. Her name is Liliane Schnitzler. In later publications, other authors gave her name to this disease.

What if I have further questions?

We have tried to put as much information as we have on this website. There are many questions that still cannot be answered, because no one knows the answer. If you have any further questions, a good place to turn is to your own doctor.

You can also send us an email at info@schnitzlersyndrome.com. We will try to respond to all emails, even if we do not have an answer to your question.
